ADAS Calibration in Dubai

Advanced driver assistance systems depend on cameras and radar units being aimed precisely, and precisely means fractions of a degree. A windscreen replacement, a bumper repair, a suspension change or an alignment all move the reference these systems rely on. The car will not warn you: lane keeping, adaptive cruise and autonomous emergency braking continue to operate, simply against a world model that is slightly wrong. That is a more dangerous failure than a system that switches itself off.

Calibration is required after more work than owners expect. Windscreen replacement is the obvious case, since the forward camera mounts to the glass. Less obvious are bumper repairs on cars with forward radar, suspension work that changes ride height, wheel alignment that changes thrust angle, and any repair involving a door mirror housing a camera. Where we carry out that work ourselves, we tell you whether calibration is needed as part of the estimate rather than afterwards.

The process is not a scan tool procedure alone. Static calibration requires the car positioned precisely relative to targets, on a level surface, at measured distances that vary by manufacturer and model. Dynamic calibration requires driving under defined conditions. Some vehicles require both. A workshop offering ADAS calibration without the space and the targets to do it properly is running the software procedure and hoping, and the result reads as complete on the tool.

Ride height matters and is easy to overlook. Radar and camera aim are referenced to the car’s attitude, so a vehicle calibrated with an unusual load, incorrect tyre pressures or a suspension fault will be calibrated to a state it will not be in on the road. We check pressures, load and suspension condition before calibrating, because calibrating a car that is sitting wrong produces a confidently incorrect result.

Documentation is issued on completion: which systems were calibrated, by which method, and the values recorded. That record matters for insurance and for resale, and it matters if the car is ever involved in an incident where the function of these systems is examined. It is issued as standard rather than on request.

Call or message us if your car has had glass, bumper, suspension or alignment work elsewhere and you are unsure whether calibration was carried out. We will tell you what your specific model requires.

Finally, a word on when to be suspicious. If your car has had a windscreen replaced, a bumper repaired or suspension work carried out and nobody mentioned calibration, it is worth asking whether it was done and asking for the documentation. Many workshops carry out the mechanical work competently and are not equipped for the calibration that follows, and the car is returned looking finished. The systems will not tell you. We can check whether your specific model requires it and whether it was carried out, and that conversation is free.
